We need all need a lil bit of cardio + lifting heavy stuff.CuntWaffle said:Run a Push/Pull/Leg split. Typically rotate compound movements. For push days press, bench press, weighted dips, occasional incline dumbell bench. Pull days are barbell rows, weighted pull ups, and traditional dead lifts. Leg days squats, front squats, hex bar dead lift, sumo dead lift... typically 1 squat and 1 hip hinge. Usually 2 compounds lifts per workout, depending on time maybe do 5-10 sets of various bro lifts like lat pull downs, cable rows, cable flys, hack squat, leg press etc.

Four hours of heavy lifting today. Tired. Very tired.YellowSnow said:
Damn you and your ample free time life style.BearsWiin said:Tomorrow is Blackjack Thursday. Start with the incline bench flat, do a set of ten dumbbell presses, the a dumbbell row for each arm. Click the incline bench up a notch, repeat. Keep clicking bench up, then down, until you've done it 21 times.
Full body circuit every day, then add something extra on top of it. One day is weighted dips and pull-ups, one day legs, one day blackjack.
This weekend it’s Steamboat which is getting dumped on too. Ts and Ps for my knees. -
For all my bros that do the rowing machine, do this: 500 meter sprint, get off and do20 kettle bell squats, 10 push ups, 1 min rest. Repeat 5 times. You will get fit in a hurry.

I fucking loved weighted dips but they caused me to get weightlifter’s shoulder (the end of the collarbone starts fracturing) and I had to give them up. Now I only do exercises that have a natural motion and have to be cautious about straining my tendons and/or ligaments. My cautionary tale is that any exercise that’s slightly painful in your 20’s will be significant in your 50’s.CuntWaffle said:Run a Push/Pull/Leg split. Typically rotate compound movements. I recently ran 5 miles then decided to hop on the Erg after I rested a bit and bang out a 2k to see if I still got it. I almost died and did not finish.
Your workout sounds tuff. Maybe next year. -
How heavy for your weighted dips/pullups? I do 20lb. increments up to 60CuntWaffle said:Run a Push/Pull/Leg split. Typically rotate compound movements. Goals:
1 Stay not fat while also being able to drink and eat what I want
2 Stay not injured
3 Stay flexible
4 Maintain/improve speed & endurance
5 Maintain/improve strength
I like to run outside so focus on that first. I have a weight bench in my basement and use that a lot to knock out lifting when I can't run due to time or whatever, and work in basic single compound lifts with squats and lunges. I rarely focus on heavy lifts (aim for 8x-12x reps) because I don't really want bulk. I wish I had the time and money to do yoga so just try to stretch as much as I can.
In the gym rowing is the best for fitness (and great for not getting injured) but sometimes multi-tasking necessitates the stationary bike or stairmaster as it keeps me not fat well enough. Being able to crank through emails while at least burning calories is always an effective use of time.
These days I am missing the explosive plyometric exercises other than rowing or doing interval runs. I need more of that but it's tough to motivate. I also end up playing a decent amount of tennis to support my kid who is good and needs the reps. All of that keeps me mostly not fat but I'm a long way from my past peak fitness of rowing or running 7:35/mile half marathons and sub 7/mile 5Ks. -

Middle aged fatness fupdate that no one will care about but idgaf.
Down 20lbs since the rosebowel. 30lbs since this time last year.
Lots of Hiit jumping rope. I'm actually getting pretty good. Double unders sustained for 20 seconds at a tim now.
Regularly walking several miles a day now which helps with the soreness from jumping rope.
Have also been doing intermittent fasting but jumped from being able to do 16-24 hrs at a time to 24-72 hrs and it's surprisingly not that much harder.
Looking forward to fitting back in my wetsuit and going surfing again. -
I started working out again about nine months ago after taking about a decade off. Was finally starting to get a gut, and I promised myself if that ever happened, I'd do something about it.
Unfortunately, I'm finding that I can't stay uninjured for more than a couple of weeks at a time, so I'm not really making any gains. Since December, my sore shoulder from a prior separation has become an "every time I use my left arm" problem, I partially tore my achilles and calf playing--no shit--one step of basketball, I pinched a nerve in my lower back that knocked me out for two weeks, beat the hell out of myself crashing a motorcycle, and both knees have started intermittently hurting from prior surgeries.
I feel like instead of turning 39 I went straight from 38 to 60. It's fucked up. I want to get in shape, I have the time to get in shape, but my body hasn't been cooperating at all. -

The sleep deprivation and all the takeout me and the mrs. doogbot were eating after the release of doogbot_2.0 had me put on like 30lbs in a year. I was determined to get rid of that before the release of 3.0 and not make the same mistakes this time around.YellowSnow said:

Add in @Tequilla #fillthepants challenge and I think I should be back to a trim father figure instead of the fat dad bod. -
The first 10lbs I lost was way harder than the last 20lbs. My body was out of shape and the extra weight made working out that much harder. I highly recommend even basic walking and even 16/8 intermittent fasting just to cut some weight off to make working out easier. My mom lost 40lbs with just those two things. Sedentary life will kill you faster than smoking.1to392831weretaken said:I started working out again about nine months ago after taking about a decade off. Completed my first 72 hr last month. Considering another one this month bc it's honestly not much harder than 48 now that I've done it(which I've done quite a few of). Will usually do a longer one after a weekend where we did a lot of eating as I can tell my body feels fed.Gwad said:

I just purchased a gently used Model D Concept II to replace my 25 year old Model C. Gotta get serious about training for the Hardcore Husky 2000 meter erg challenge coming soon.

So much this. The clock rolled over on 43 and I was a lean mean 172 pound coke doing machine. Still had most of my hair as well, though it was receding. Met CLS at 44 and still a pleasant looking 178 or so, hair starting retreat. Fast forward 18 months until now and starting to take on a beach ball appearance at 190+ and hair is in full on abandon mode like it's the French guarding the Maginot line. Tried to stem the tide a year ago as I was blowing past 185 and did nothing but pull muscles and sprain shit no matter what I tried. Finally said fuck it before I killed myself.1to392831weretaken said:I started working out again about nine months ago after taking about a decade off. At 43 I would have fucked me. At almost 46, I look like a fucking side show act. When the body finally says fuck it, you just fall off a cliff. It's really why I got married. She's the last girl to see me naked when it didn't look like a B movie horror flick. -

The one bitch about being a man is there is no fat upside. With women, if they have big tits to start, getting fat doesn't make that worse ... it leaves them with at least one thing to work with, and most men can't help themselves around a huge rack.
I suppose I'll always have my .5" Johnson to work with. JFC -
