One of them's from Texas and one is from St Louis. None of them are from Ohio.Meek said:
I don't look at it quite that way myself. I think Gee can hold his own with a crop of elite WR recruits, but to me the intangible is that Gee will be a West Coast kid coming all the way across country and most of those kids will be from within driving distance of home and it just kind of has the potential to be a more difficult assimilation process for kids from further away.Doogles said:I mentioned a bit ago how Ohio State also had a 5* #2WR in the country and 4* top 100 WR in the 2019 class. Gee is a big time Recruit, but he's like 5th on the totem pole with the guys he'll be competing with

This kid is 5'8 and they'll probably use him like Curtis Samuel, probably has nothing to do with Gee.

St. Louis to Columbus is about a 6 hour drive...that is nothing.dnc said:

Seems likely Gee will rise in the next 247 rankings, per Huffman and his performance at the opening. Could easily be #2 WR of the OSU WR's with a small bump. I don't think this last WR commit means much because Cooper is a slot guy, so unless they get another commit - and they aren't currently "in" on any other WR's they've offered ranked near Scott - I don't think it means much. -
I am sure location of the recruits hometown will factor into the depth chart when they determine playing time.Meek said:

The table is set for Gee now that he has the Washington offer. Of course his initial response was to brush it off and oversell his undying love for the school he is committed to (tOSU).
Now, however, he has 5-7 months to think about it and possibly come up with a story for why he flips.
During that time he will likely stop by a few UW games or practices, 90% of the random people in his ear will likely be telling him how awesome it would be if he stayed home, and several of his teammates could commit to UW and start getting on him.
He will never say, "The UW offer meant a lot to me and it's where I wanted to go" but he could devise one of the following stories to corroborate a "respect my decision. No interviews" tweet.
- tOSU wasnt showing him enough love, didnt prioritize him
- desire to stay home/ be a hometown hero won out
- made a great connection to Junior Adams
Of course, the major caveat here is whether he has enough time to go through all this. If Rome and Bunkley or Bryant commit, Pete would likely shut down WR recruiting altogether. -
I imagine the board now will be either Scott or Rome and LV or Bryant. Just can't see Pete taking any committments before getting Rome and Bryant on visits. All speculation of course.bananasnblondes said:The table is set for Gee now that he has the Washington offer. I feel like this is inevitable *IF* UW really wants him and is willing to wait for him to decommit.animate said:_ "coach adams" got to know me better and assured that the process was unnecessarily slow and they have prioritized me and my fsp boys ... Sam has been working me like mad lately..."
I'm not sure that's the case though.
I could see UW shutting WR recruiting down by mid August or early September at the latest and if that's the case I'm not sure Scott will be in the boat yet.
If we take two more WR commits and Scott's still a Buckeye, I think it's over it.
This one could go either way IMO. -
Word is that chin is going to hit the portal after this year

...needs to find a way! -
It's nice to legitimately not care about this either way. I don't feel like Junior or Pete "need" to find a way. The Scotts know the program, we've made the offer. If it works out, great. If not, we move on. Of the five WR we seem to still be considering -- Odunze, Bryant, Gee, Wilson, LVBS -- Gee is #3 at best in order of preference for me.

1 Wilson
2 Scott
3 Odunze
4 Bryant
5 LVBS
But I'd be thrilled with any of the top 3 and happy with any of them. -
I don’t think Gee committing to UDUB as a good player has ever been the question. The question has always been with Troy Franklin, Emeka Egbuka, Lonyatta Alexander, Beaux Collins in 2021, this 2020 class being so loaded, and AWFUL numbers management/misses in years past, would we have to pull an offer from a local kid with a vocal dad because we ACTUALLY hit on a high percentage of the elite tier of offers. Pulling scholarships is the worst case scenario in Pete’s mind in order for his actions to truly support him being the most ethically moral coach in CFB.

My assumptions for roster balance are that there are, on average, three receivers on the field at a time (this might even be on the high side with all of the 12 personnel that Petersen employs). Three divides into 25 players (offense, defense, and three specialists) to make the receiver position account for about 12% of your starting lineup.
Doing the math, there are 11 scholarship receivers on the roster, so the receiver position will account for 13% of the scholarship totals in 2019. That's not far off. Three of these will be graduating after the season, and there is every indication that four are going to be coming in to replace them. Racanelli and McMillan are in the boat. Looks like one of Wilson/Scott/Odunze and one of Bryant/LVBS are going to round out the class if they can get one from each group.
So 12 scholarship receivers in '20. That's just over 14% of the scholarship count.
Two guys will be graduating after '20, and once again it looks like a loaded receiver class full of can't-say-no guys. Let's say we all collectively die of acute priapism after the commitments of Egbuka, Franklin, Lonyatta, and a fourth (be it Collins or yet another can't-miss player who isn't even on the radar yet). That means 14 scholarship receivers in '21. That's 16.4% of the scholarship count.
We?'re either an air raid team now or we're going to have to start getting less emotionally attached to at least a few of these stud receivers. We can't have them all even if all of them want to play for UW. This whole thread has turned in the direction of how awesome it would be to get Gee Jr. SOMEBODY's being scratched off of your list if this happens. Probably Rome or Wilson. Possibly a slot receiver in general. Or they just don't feel as good about Egbuka the following year. Etc. Gee, Rome, and Bryant can't all be must-takes. Or else silly roster.
Something has to give here. It's raining stud receivers. They should texture the numbers on the jerseys to reflect this. -
Skinny has to show he can win games for us this year and evolve an anemic passing offense. Then Gee might actually reconsider.

This might help, same goes for the wheels falling off at Ohio with Urbs gone. The law of teen boi stalking says it's already too late for season success/failure to matter though.Beno4Life said:Skinny has to show he can win games for us this year and evolve an anemic passing offense. You aren’t accounting for attrition and you’re assuming we are 100% for all these 2021 kids 18 months out. -
Opening Finals Dream Team, Gee Scott:
It’s pretty wild to have three Ohio State wide receiver commits as the three wide receiver representatives on the Dream Team but Scott left us no choice. He was steady and consistent all week. He made one-handed catches like they were routine. He had one drop all weekend and it was another one-handed catch that somehow we’ve come to take for granted. He had 25 catches (second among all receivers), five touchdowns (tied for second) and he was the safety valve all week for his quarterbacks. -
