You try having a walking dead, flesh-eating wife..... -
Having watched the series again it will be interesting how 2019 audiences react to the portrayal of racism that the show had. It was jarring a bit even to a hardened guy like me to see so many white folks using the N word. 12 years ago is a long time
It wasn't just Steve the virulent Klan racist who thankfully got his skull kicked in it was everyone even the "good guys" with their causal racism that was part of the times
Will an audience today put up with that? Will the writers even try? -
Folks were pretty rayciss back then. I would hope that HBO accurately portraying the sentiments of the time wouldn't get them accused of being rayciss of insensitive.RaceBannon said:Having watched the series again it will be interesting how 2019 audiences react to the portrayal of racism that the show had. About Tim. Hoping for some chew spitting women, whiskey fueled brawls and shootouts with an epic script.
Some of the best writing to ever grace the TV screen. -
August commencement to my administration, standing stymied outside a saloon next to a degenerate tit-licker.

It's David Milch. Unless HBO put constraints on him, he never holds back.RaceBannon said:Having watched the series again it will be interesting how 2019 audiences react to the portrayal of racism that the show had. One of my favorite shows of all time, but I watched the trailer and am getting the feeling this thing isn't at that level.
It's hard to recapture that original magic, even when the players are the same. -
Top 10 quote of the series rather easily.Gladstone said:August commencement to my administration, standing stymied outside a saloon next to a degenerate tit-licker.

Either Al found god, or dolly just stuck her thumb in his ass.

I begrudge that pervert his capacity for happiness

Premieres on HBO tomorrow.

This sounds like the kick off slogan to my yearly fund drive here.Gladstone said:August commencement to my administration, standing stymied outside a saloon next to a degenerate tit-licker.

So was it any good?
I've never watched the Deadwood series. So just jump into the movie or do I have to watch the series first? -
You should watch the series. The only reason to avoid it was because it got left unfinished.BennyBeaver said:So was it any good?

At least watch season 1
-
That’s how you end a series. Surreal to get closure after all these years! Bullock stole the show.

I was preparing myself to be disappointed after that lackluster preview. So I am happy to hear your report on it.Gladstone said:That’s how you end a series. Surreal to get closure after all these years! Bullock stole the show.
Now I'm really anxious to see it. -
Watched it last night
It was a gift to long time viewers. Well done
