Zion Alefosio, 2020 ATH, (Villa Park HS), CA

“Washington is another school I really like and would love to get an offer from them. My moms side of the family is all from there and it’s like a second home for me so I’m just staying patient and we’ll see what happens.”

100% of Alefosios we've recruited have gone to Bama. His mom's side of the family might be from Seattle, but Tuscaloosa is closer to Seattle than Seattle is.
-
Yeah but we have like a 100% success rate with Zions

I was told there wasn’t going to be any math.Neighbor2972 said:Yeah but we have like a 100% success rate with Zions

Dude from Doogman says:
A good friend of mine is the big brother of Mater Dei 4-Star DB Zion Alefosio and has told his big brother on multiple occasions that he wants to be at UW. He loves CP and loves the huskies. His brother lives in Tacoma And he would love to be near his big bro. Just some potential good news for us dawg fans. -
What position do we think he will play?DoogCourics said:Dude from Doogman says:

Getting a Mater Dei 4 star would be nice. -
He’s a FS/nickel CB imo. I’d love to see Ringo, Hector, Latham and this kid as our 2020 DBsHillsboroDuck said:

There was a kid named Davey Alefosio that played at Lincoln in Tacoma. Absolute monster for Al Davies before high school.DoogCourics said:Dude from Doogman says:

“I like Washington a lot and plan to camp with them and hopefully get that offer. That’s where my mom wants me to go, she lives out there so if they offer me, I might just commit on the spot. If I don’t commit early, I’ll go through the process and take all my visits and play the process out. I want to take all my trips no matter what but right now, I don't have anything set up."
-
Well we wont be offering him anytime soon then.CallMeBigErn said:“I like Washington a lot and plan to camp with them and hopefully get that offer. 4.75 40 yard dash and 28" Vertical at 197 pounds, so he's far from an elite athlete. Definitely going to be a back-up plan.

This kid is the best safety in the class if the grades check out. That’s a big if but him, Lathan and JonJon Vaughns are clear cut above everyone else. It would be a nice card to hang over Lathan’s head to have Alefosio in the bag while contending with Notre Dame & Oklahoma for Ransom.

Why not take both?LaMichael_Corleone said:This kid is the best safety in the class if the grades check out. That’s a big if but him, Lathan and JonJon Vaughns are clear cut above everyone else. We deserve nice things and as BTP so kindly reminded me, fuck moderation. -
Always take both. I’m just talking about leverage. It’s up to the coaches on how many safeties they’re going to take but if they are going to take two, it would be Lathan at 1, and then Zion but his grades have been an issue so they’d go down to Vaughns or Esteen who UDUB offered but it looks like he wants to play corner.dirtysouwfdawg said:

Agreed, leverage is good.LaMichael_Corleone said:

Having Rapp, Budda, and Zekes success the last few years probably helps a lil. -
Crazy we have gotten to the point where big recruits are waiting for us to offer so they can commit.

With the Peter Latu offer as well, it looks like Oregon is making their rounds to the fringe academic guys who wish they could go to Washington.Neighbor2972 said: -

Should make it easy to poach if they ever get their academics in order enough. Then @Mosster47 will come back and say that Oregon never really wanted them anyways.LaMichael_Corleone said:

Excellent ball skills.
Doesn't light people up like I was hoping/expecting but the tools are there. I like him a lot. -
When I said at the beginning of the year there’s a big drop off after Lathan Ransom was because I was and still am under the assumption that Alefosio prolly has academic issues. Zion’s film and athleticism at a good size makes him as good if not with a higher ceiling than Lathan Ransom.HillsboroDuck said:

His quickness is what stands out and is absolutely elite to the point his size doesn’t really matter. The quickness is so eye popping especially when you compare it to Lathan Ransom’s poor shuttle time and slower feet for someone who isn’t as big as say Asa Turner. I love both player’s film so much but would give Ransom because of production at the position.
His Mater Dei film as a sophomore it’s easier to see his length & there was an interview at a camp last year conducted right after testing & he was listed at 6’1 on the card they gave him. Prolly means anywhere from 6’.75 to 5’11.5 but that’s the same height as Rapp, CamWill, & Gilchrist with Irvin being a legit 6’1 with elite arm/leg length but not quite the frame to fill out of like Taylor. I’d say Alefosio’s size & frame would be a poor man’s version of Irvin.
Alefosio has great instincts as well being able to be around elite coaching his freshman year at St John Bosco and then as a sophomore at Mater Dei.
All of this may not (prolly doesn’t) fucking matter until he gets his grades right. Fuck I hate having to say that about kids because everyone’s situation is different. But as Ransom (who needs to be closed no excuses) continues to love being recruited, it would be nice to see offers go to Alefosio and Vaughns. -
