WSU really overplayed their recruits. The rest of the conference is shit. And how awful is Oregon and USC with that talent?

Leach is a great coach. Look at his success at TTU and where TTU has been since.
He's a really good coach. He's not a great coach. He never beats anyone worth a damn, never did it at TT, never does it at WSU. He relies on completely shit non conference schedules (like UW's this year coming up, yes) and consistently beating the bottom tier of his conference to prop up high win totals.

And yes I know Pete has struggled to win big games at UW. Look at both of their total HC careers side by side and Pete has stacked a hell of a lot more big wins than Leach has.

Leach is perfect for WSU and they're lucky to have him, but his politics aren't the only reason no one's hired him away from WSU yet.
As our southern expert aren't there schools there that wouldn't give a shit about his politics?

I keep hearing talented QB and 40 is the magic number. It is indeed tim. No excuses.

Indeed. It's why UT looked at him last year, for instance. But even then a) most southern schools (like most schools) are more liberal than the states they exist in b) he's a terrible interview (which is the only thing that saved us from hiring him, he would have been a disaster here) c) his chinability to win big games is going to give the big boys pause.

Again, he's a really good coach. He belongs at a higher profile school than WSU. His warts mean he'll probably never be hired at a school that has an above average program for it's conference though.

If this trend continues I don't think I'll be able to handle 2020.

    Food for thought:

Greg Gaines was the 6th best recruit in the 2014 class. Granted, it was a short cycle because Pete had only just been hired.

This year, Greg Gaines would have been the 3rd worst recruit in the class:
