She stupid and wrong...most if not all teams are owned as corporations that distribute revenues to the “owners” as dividends, so those distributions would be taxed as such and not as “income”...any that aren’t will be if something this dumb ever passes. It’s a dumb discussion because implementing it will just change how a bunch of people hide and get to their money...mainly will just give accounts and lawyers more work.

The fact that a sitting Rep, most journalists, and a good chunk of society don’t understand this simple wrinkle in our tax code is pretty sad...

Da fuq? I like how you talk like you know something when you don't.

First, if AOC gets her way on the 70%, do you really think it'll be only earned income and would exclude realized investment income? How cute.

Second, while the explosion of TV revenues and great collective bargaining skills against a weak Union have allowed NFL franchises to actually turn a profit. The majority of the owners don't make a sizable profit from the franchise. Their money is made in their bread and butter, whatever it is that made them wealthy.

I do agree that most politicians, journalists, and our society don't understand the tax code.

If she gets qualified dividends taxed as ordinary income, a lot more will have changed along with the 70%.

70% won't happen in the near future. It would take something sure for that to happen. 40%, 50% maybe.

Not necessarily. The way I'd see it. Congress says if your income is over $10 billion, it's all taxed as ordinary. This isn't in the media now, but there's been discussion in the past of people with incomes over certain amounts all taxed as ordinary. Cause hedge fund managers and the Warren buffets of the world are the reason for it.

Go find where she is talking about taxing dividends at 70%...I can give you a long list where she talks about marginal tax rates at 70%:
    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/crenshaw-ocasio-cortez-trade-twitter-barbs-over-super-bowl
    https://morningconsult.com/2019/02/04/warrens-proposed-tax-on-wealthy-draws-more-support-than-ocasio-cortezs/

    https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/1/4/18168431/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-70-percent

    Or keep making shit up...

Who cares how NFL teams make there money. Let's use the Patriots as an example...Robert Kraft is the "owner", but the team is actually owned by The Kraft Group LLC:
    https://www.thekraftgroup.com/

They get the income from everything...stadium (where they make a good chunk of their money), licensing, etc. etc. You think they give Robert Kraft a $100MM salary, or do you thing they give him a nominal "salary" and distribute earning via dividends to the shareholders, of which is probably basically him and his family/kids.

This is true, but its a media-driven phenomenon...a good example is HondoFS and his favorite "fact-checkers", where they have to basically say its true but its really false on stuff conservatives say. If is was a conservative argument and it was Crenshaw making it, do you think the AP article would frame the article as 'Crenshaw hits back' instead of something to the effect of 'Crenshaw shows fundamental lack of understanding the tax code by arguing with AOC...'.

The media fuels it and drives it by giving her and others (Bernie, Warren) an open platform to spew nonsense without calling them out on it. Its why Trump in all of his craziness is still smart to be tweeting directly to everyone...it reduces the amount of "analysis" the media can do on whatever he says because what he says still gets out to (most) everybody, and they just add there nonsense of why we shouldn't believe whatever he says.

I know exactly what AOC has said. There's no full plan right now. If this goes thru Congress, they will probably include all income, not just earned income. I also don't think it'll be 70%. (All shit I've written in this thread)

I also addressed your NFL question. Do you really think the money Kraft makes from the Patriots is significant to his overall income? He didn't start an NFL franchise and become a billionaire. It was the other way around.

    HondoFS...

"There's no full plan right now"...nope, but she's out there saying marginal rates at 70%. Even HondoFS with his speed limit IQ realizes that is FS, so what does he do but is now "interpreting" what AOC means as really meaning she wants to up the dividend tax rate even though she is saying something different. Mind Reading is cool...

You could just say AOC's ramblings are stupid but we really should do X, Y, or Z, but that would involve a little more IQ power than you currently have available...

I linked to Kraft's page...he makes a ton of money from all sorts of things, but the amazing thing is that they are all in the Kraft Group portfolio. That's the structure he set up from the beginning to protect his tax rates before his NFL team started printing him money (but the stadium has generated a fortune for him over the long haul...). Why is this so difficult for you to comprehend?

Holy cow...not a good start to the day for HondoFS...

I loathe every position she has on everything, but you would have to be an idiot to see that she isn't going to be a real issue going forward. She is telegenic, and the MSM LOVES her. And the DNC feels it because she has provided cover, in conjunction with the media, for everyone to lurch left. It is brilliant, even if I hate it. It's funny, she received just shy of 16,000 votes, in a New York precinct. That means, in essence, less than 16,000 New Yorkers are now driving the national political convo. Crazy. She is basically an invented politician, elected by statistically nobody, and she is driving the national debate on Green Deals and Medicare for all and wealth redistribution. I have never seen anything like it. I still like her tits.

The one thing I do like about her, besides her tits and ass, is the disruptor thing. Same thing I liked about Trump. I like a small part of anyone who shits in the establishment's cheerios, because the establishment hasn't had our best interests in mind in 200 years. FTG's.
She’s also a fucking idiot, so there’s that!

I never said she would destroy the republic I said the rich wouldn't pay so the will lower the definition of rich to get the money they know where to find, the middle class

    Same as it ever was

It is true that if passed the rich may take their toys and LEAVE as the way to avoid it which leads to the destruction of the middle class and the end of all socialist paradises - wiping your ass with leaves

Its like we have real world examples

Tell them to say hi to Lena Dunham for me once they leave America. Oh right, this is the same thing every asshole without an argument always says. Blank is Hitler. Blank is going to leave. Same as it ever was.
