I'm not inclined to believe either of them. Kim obviously has an agenda, and Softy is just a mouthpiece for the AD. Obviously they'd want Petersen to look as good as possible coming out of this. This makes it look like he wanted discipline while allowing the kid a second chance, they're just trying to appease the masses. Nobody outside the AD knows what actually happened; these two sure as fuck don't.

how about the theory that Stringfellow is just another highly talented kid who doesn't like having to commit to a challenging regimen in order to comply with some kind of punitive scenario. Petersen probably gave him a significant amount of work to do (which I would agree with) but, as any good authority figure you have to give some kind of out for people to make an actual decision. I expect he said that if String didn't want to comply then to support String, Coach P would grant him a transfer. I think the edgy player took the easy way out. Just what I'm hearing from my own halfbrain.
