Home field for the regular season champion does make the most sense though. This isn't a conference like the SEC where everybody is more or less within an 8 hour drive of Atlanta.
If Oregon is championship/playoff caliber this year it won't matter where the game is played. If you're complaining about having to travel down there as opposed to Autzen then that's obviously understandable. Of course there's that snowballs-chance-in-hell that the South team has a better record in which case Oregon benefits anyways. Either way it will probably be boring as fuck unless the two teams didn't play each other in the regular season.
Santa Clara California? They didn't work very hard to find a truly neutral site for the Pac 12 Championship game. This color coded map shows that in the Pac 12, all roads lead to Provo, Utah. The perfect site for the perfect dreckfest.
Having a neutral site game on the west coast is fucking retarded. Way too far to travel. I also like home field because it rewards the team with the better record and provides a much better atmosphere.
