What they need to do is renegotiate the deal with Musk down to $44.20 w/ Musk stipulating he will close deal in 6 weeks.
They can do/say the right things by claiming the existing deal will happen, but Elon has enough money, time, avenues to tie this up in courts for years and ultimately find a judge who will agree with him.
Meanwhile as this goes on, twitter's stock will be closer to $24.20 than where it's at today.
