Would my tip story be more believable if I told you first about the cracker on the movie line down South who didn't like what he was seeing? The only place I've experienced real racism was in the south; Atlanta to be exact. When I moved there for a couple years in '92, I was pretty shocked to hear some of the young people my age referring to black people with the disdain they held openly. I grew up in Portland, played a lot of basketball on the NE side of town, had black teammates throughout HS and then had 4 black roommates in college. To this day one of my best friends is black and I've never experienced overt racism like I saw frequently in the south.
