Family suffering isn’t the relevant part, everyone’s family suffered. That’s just human history. My family was very privileged by Soviet standards, by any standards actually but especially by those. Post 1945 my family are not the victims, if anything they were the beneficiaries.
I was talking specifically about Nazis someone mentioned as a sort of justification, hence the mention of the family. Bona fides, and so forth. I was trying to show that it’s epically blown out of proportion. Having Putin say he’s invading Ukraine to “De-Nazify it” is a masterclass of absurdism as an art form.
I don’t trust anything from either country. But this is as clear of a case of evil versus not evil. Even if all of those things are true (as a kid we were told the Americans invented AIDS) then Ukraine is still 1/20th as corrupt and involved in biological weapons as the country attacking them.

Native Indians had little natural immunity against the plague and small pox. Cholera was spread and was an equal opportunity killer. Lots of pioneers on the Oregon Trail died of it. The Indians that died did so hundreds of years ago and while whites benefited from it, very little was intentional. What is going on in Ukraine doesn't have anything to do with American Indians other than strong people like to take things away from weak people. The US has no direct interest in what's going on in the Ukraine and other than providing plenty of gasoline, we aren't doing anything to put out the fire. -
