Jordan Peterson is a clown. If I wanted to listen to sanctimonious assholes using $3 words in an attempt to impress others I woulda stayed in Seattle.
You got a lot of downvotes on this, but I actually somewhat feel you here. I, myself, like Peterson - always have - and a lot of what he has to say is spot on, and occasionally he can be quite insightful.
But in addition to seeming to be a little emotionally unstable - and he's been that way as long as I've listened to him - he does seem to, at times, to play up the academic platform a bit in a seeming attempt to lend more credence to what he has to say. It's like he's reminding everyone that he's just as smart as those pompous ass liberal elite academics and wants to remind everyone he's one of those too, but with better views. I mean, both of those things are true, but I see your point ... it wanders into a schtick a bit for me.
Whereas, say, Shapiro seems to be entirely who he is and he lays the lumber on people without seeming to try to play to the audience the way Peterson does. Like I said, I like Peterson, but I've always felt there's a little bit of bullshit there with him. I've also never, once, heard him say, "Not my area - I really don't know," where Shapiro is pretty straight with where he feels like he has a good grasp and where he doesn't.
I like Doug Murray more than all of them. Also a pompous ass, but for him it's entirely who he is. Like Shapiro, I feel like you are listening to the man the way you'd hear him if you were over beers or in the audience.

When people put out hours and hours of content, you aren’t going to agree or be entertained by all of it.
That’s why the Rogan hate that even his own fans partake in is so stupid. He puts out 4 shows a week that are 2-3 hours. There are going to be boring guests, Joe is gonna be repetitive at times. They don’t have to listen and pick apart every fucking episode.
This is the part of podcasts I don't get. The length. Mrs. Swaye was listening to the Shapiro podcast while cooking dinner last week. It was entertaining for 45 minutes. By the time dinner was ready I didn't want to hear him anymore. And I usually agree with him. I love Rogan. For an hour. I can't imagine listening to him and his guests for 3 hours 4 times a week.
But I was never the type who could listen to Stern do his entire show daily. 30 minutes? Sure.gif. 4 fucking hours?!?!?!!? No thanks. I guess some people like it. I have better things to do.
Same. Watching/listening to Howard for too long is like watching too much porn. It's awesome, but at some point you start to weird yourself out and suddenly feel the need to shower.
I love old Howard Stern. Right when he moved to Sirius was great. The pornstar shit is hacky to me now that I’m an adult. His show sucks now and he resorts to being Covid crazy to get his clicks in the news. He’s always been a hypochondriac tho so it’s not that surprising.
He's basically unlistenable now. But he kept his schtick going for a long time. Good for him. Now he can fuck off.

I'll listen to full 3 or 4 hours of Rogan depending on the guest. And usually that's broken up over a couple sessions. JPeterson was a full listen over 3 days. Pierre Kory and Bret Weinstein -full listens, probably 2 sessions.
But then I'll go several days without even tuning in. Some MMA guy - who cares?
