What does one do with family diaries from the 1860s?
Some ancestor of mine wrote them. A lot of them. I’ve been told he was a soldier for the North but it’s hard to know if that’s just family lore/wishful thinking. But given our ancestry is from upstate NY it’s likely he was a Union soldier.
They are now in my possession since my parents held them in a box for close to 40 years and are now downsizing. They’ve never been transcribed. I’d be curious to have that happen, especially if in fact they contain day to day details of the war which could add to our* collective knowledge.
Ideas?
