Oklahoma leads the all time series between the two programs 6-1. Oregon has the last victory in series (34-33) back in 2006. The two teams have met once in a previous bowl game (2005 Holiday Bowl) in which Oklahoma prevailed 17-14. Oregon will be missing more than 30 players from its regular season roster for various reasons.
Already short-handed due to opt-outs and players who have entered the transfer portal, Oregon's defense will be down a few more bodies in the Alamo Bowl, McClendon confirmed Tuesday. Defensive tackle Popo Aumavae, pass rushers Adrian Jackson and Jake Shipley, and linebacker Jackson LaDuke will not play Wednesday. McClendon did not clarify the exact circumstances for each. The Ducks already were preparing to play without Kayvon Thibodeaux and Mykael Wright, who are preparing for the NFL draft, and DJ James and Jayson Jones, who intend to transfer. Along with getting Bennett Williams back from an injury that sidelined him the past three months, the Ducks hope to have safety Bryan Addison and defensive tackle Keanu Williams available as well, despite the fact both have missed some practice time this week.
Hopefully COVID doesn't shut this game down before it gets started...
They gave it a boy scout effort considering the hits to the roster. Okie looked like they came to play. Thibs could've been a difference maker. I hope missing the game gives him the needed boost in the underwear olympics.
With any luck at all this season will be the final death blow to meaningless bowl games that good players have no interest in.
