Projecting recruits is a low percentage venture for everyone. The nerdiest of TBSers aren't going to get it right any more often than the casual hack like me that impulsively picks his favorites from one short highlight video.huskyhooligan said:GrundleStiltzkin said:

Or whoosh?
In all honesty I like Coker, still wish he posted here, but I generally feel his recruiting declarations have been off. Hope he's right!
What if everyone turned out as good as they looked at the beginning? Nobody would suck. It'd be chaos.
For most recruits going from HS to college a lot of what you’re looking at is projection
The thing we can see from the outside is does a particular player have the tools from which to be successful …
What we can’t see or know from afar is whether they have the work ethic and intangibles necessary to reach their potential … whether they have the ability to unlock the needed physical gains to get where is needed size/speed wise … whether they’ll be fortunate to avoid injuries
Projecting anybody to be a star to me is in most instances a reach …
Projecting that they have the attributes to be a potential starter or high end draft pick if things work out … that’s far more doable.
The goal as always is to get a roster full of talented players and allow them to sort out for themselves who develops the best and deserves to get on the field -
For everyone shitting on DDY’s rankings, he always said this is what he looked atTequilla said:
