Inglewood High principal Debbie Tate issued a written apology on behalf of herself and football coach Mil’Von James on Monday in response to criticism of her school and the football program following a 106-0 victory over Morningside on Friday night in which the quarterback passed for 13 touchdowns and the team went for a two-point conversion with a 104-0 lead.

“We did not conduct ourselves with sportsmanship and integrity and the final score was unacceptable,” the statement read. “Coach James has also offered his apologies to the Morningside High School football program and the larger school community.”

James wasn't opposed to running it up if someone pissed him off

How do you beat a team 106-0?

    Go for two

“Why did you go for 2 with such a big lead?” “Because they wouldn’t let me go for 3”…Woody Hayes after blowing out UM, coached by his former assistant…some guy named Bo

There's a backstory here that I really want to know.

This has more to do with the mentality of players and coaches playing sports in inner city Los Angeles. Eat or be eaten. Less to do with any backstory.

Keep in mind this was cool to do in 1990 when Lisa Leslie went for 101 points in one half while playing for Morningside.

What makes the Leslie story even more outrageous is the fact that this was not the highest scoring record at that time. That feat actually belonged to Cheryl Miller, who scored 105 points in 1982. Though it seemed as if Leslie was well on her way to break the record, this feat would not become attainable for her. Entering the second half, South Torrance decided to pack it up and leave.

Leslie told the LA Times: “I was kind of heartbroken that I didn’t break the record,” Leslie said. “I asked the (South Torrance) coach before they left the court if they would let me score three more baskets, and then he asked his team, and they said ‘No.’ ”

At the time, Gil Ramirez, the South Torrance Coach, faced scrutiny for this gesture, even though their team was quite literally being embarrassed from the first tip. Some called it poor sportsmanship for Leslie’s high school coach to allow this to go on for so long, his response was he would let his players shine at least once a season, especially seniors.

Had some cousins that went to Riverside Poly with the Miller family in the early 80's. Heard some great stories. The night she went for 105, Reggie came home and bragged that he got 40 without knowing what she had done. Cousins still swear to this day that the person they thought was destined for the hall of fame out of Poly was not any of the Millers. "They were great but Mark Green was the best." He led them to the CIF championship in football, later went on to win a championship with Notre Dame in 1988 as the starting RB (Ricky Watters was his backup) and spent some time with the Bears. Imagine going to HS with two future HOFers/GOAT and admitting there was someone better.

Rose bowl champion Hakim Akbar is a Poly grad as well........not sure why the Huskies don't recruit the Riverside area more.

Reggie would not argue with you if you said Cheryl was better to his face

    He knows

    And Reggie was really good
