Assessing what might have been as former UW quarterback Jake Haener flourishes at Fresno State

Nothing would have been different because UW still would have lost to Oregon in 2019, it dodged the Duck game in 2020 by diving into a vat of Covid, and it's coached by Jimmy Lake so it would lose to Oregon again this year even with Patrick Mahomes at QB. Nothing else matters.

He is playing great! I think it has way more to do with scheme. Like the qb’s at Oklahoma always play well that transfer in from other schools.
Uw can’t develop anyone at qb. They all get worse the longer they were here. This is a fact. Even during the season they seem to all get worse the longer the season goes.
Haener had A problem with turnovers by all observers at the camp leading into 2019. He does lock on to wr’s. That’s fine as long as they are still open and it hasn’t mattered this year. Lots of qb’s do this so it’s not like it’s just him. He seems to know who is going to be open before the play develops which I can’t say for the uw qb or passing game.
I have watched 2 games this year and he has fumbled 3 times. One of them probably cost them the oregon game had they continued the drive. Not sure about the UConn game but nobody fumbles vs UConn. The one with kayvon blasting him was not his fault but still a fumble nonetheless. -
100 percent. And I don't fault Petermen for going with Eason.GreenRiverGatorz said:
Doubt it. I don't think Haener wins any additional games for us in 2019.Houhusky said:I wonder if Peterson views falling into the trap of bringing Big Dick (tm) god savior QB Eason in for a year as one of his biggest career mistakes?
It was everything antithetical to Petersen's philosophy; hometown hero politics, transfer rental, physical gifts over hard work and commitment to the team.
IMO after being smeared as a racist, pretending to enjoy Hawaiian shirts, shitty entitled teenagers, and local 7 on 7 parents personally and publicly trashing the program he was running Pete took a step back and realized that he was spending the majority of his time with shitty 2A high school coach type problems and not just coaching "pure" football, feeling like he didn't actually have control over who was starting QB was just the final straw that broke him.
That said, I with Haener had stuck around for another year to see if he could win the starting role. This fucking transfer portal is dog shit. -
I'd like to know who forced big dick Petersen to play big dick Eason
Doesn't make sense -

I can remember hiking through the rain forest of the Olympic Peninsula back in the Spring of '19 with @dflea as he was smoking a massive about of weed and talking shit about how we finally had a bid dick QB.dflea said:

And to think if not for a play or 2, BYU and Fresno would be 1-2 in the PAC 12 standings now.
Haeners come back was fun to watch. Gutsy effort as they say. Too bad UCLAs DB coach never taught them the thing of an out route and how they work. But still. Haener was the man no doubt.
