Chances are the electricity you consumed posting this drivel was probably produced by coal. If you REALLY cared, you'd be leading by example and move off grid.

Chances are you may be right even though all sources for Idaho Power are hydroelectric, except for one brand new NG combined cycle plant at the west end of the Boise Valley. Combined cycle NG plants are very clean or what is generally known as Zero Discharge with regard to fossil fuel burning emissions. Idaho Power does own a piece of Bridger power station over in the southwest corner of Wyoming which is an ugly coal fired fucking mess, but it's ill-gotten product doesn't make it to our grid.

Idaho Power does through BPA trade hydroelectric watts for fossil fuel watts produced for the grid in California, but all power generation in California whether coal or NG is as Zero Discharge as modern technology can produce. The people of Idaho, as conservative and greedy as any people could be proudly living in the reddest state in the union, will never allow a coal-fired power plant to be licensed in our state and every time a license is applied for, the fucking mess at Bridger in Wyoming is always used as the example of what should never be allowed anywhere. So, while high desert prairie dust may occasionally plague my keyboard, coal fired fly-ash falling from the sky never will.

So... where does the coal from China in the jet stream go as it floats over Idaho? or the coal from Washington, Oregon , Montana?

Also, I just checked... Idaho power has 3 coal fired plants so, like usual, your talking points are 'out of date'

Idaho Power is partnered with others on three coal fired power plants, none of which is located in the state of Idaho or is majority owned by Idaho Power. I must confess I didn't know that the Boardman plant in Oregon is coal fired, and everybody it seems has a piece of coal fired generation in Nevada(North Valmy).
