A U.S. Capitol Police lieutenant left his service weapon in a bathroom Monday night and the unattended gun was discovered later by another Capitol Police officer.

After the House adjourned on Monday, Lt. Mike Byrd left his Glock 22 in a bathroom in the Capitol Visitor Center complex, according to sources familiar with the incident. Byrd is the commander of the House Chambers section of the Capitol Police and was on the job Tuesday and Wednesday.

Byrd addressed the incident at Tuesday morning’s officer roll call and, according to sources, told fellow officers that he “will be treated differently
” because of his rank as a lieutenant. It was not clear what exactly the lieutenant meant by the comment.

He's obviously a racist! He needs to be charged. Now!

From experience in a situation where deadly force is used and a number of officers are present more than one perceives the same threat. More than one usually fire. It can also be contagious fire and a lot of rounds are fired.

Strange to me that only one person decided it was a deadly threat and fired. There were several officers right there seeing the same thing.

Why would a cop shoot through a window at a suspect in another room who is unarmed posing absolutely no threat to anyone?

I'd like to see a trial to get that answer

No chance. Doesn’t fit the narrative. Black cops killing white people doesn’t help the left.

Did any other officers even have their guns drawn? And why isn't this shooting about race? There's just as much evidence that he shot her because he is a racist as there is that George Floyd or Breonna Taylor were killed because they were black.

Wouldn't it be nice if Mello wasn't such a fucking pussy that he actually had the balls to argue against something you've said. Mellow is it more of an intelligence deficiency or is it just plain cowardice that keeps from from responding with anything more than your passive aggressive down vote?

Time to stop playing in the shallow end of the kiddie pool Mellow, what did I say that isn't accurate?

The left that says all cops are bastards and there are no white and black cops, only blue? That left?

Man, could have been some actual progress made here by you guys but you’d rather use Babbit as a political pawn to spread conspiracy theories. Not surprising but still a shame.
