“Why not Oregon State? They care about sports . . .”
No explanation needed.
Spaceman has inside knowledge about the OSU Athletic Department, their history and commitment to excellence.
Oh, I forgot, Obama’s brother-in-law, Craig Robinson, was their head men’s basketball coach. How did that work out?
The First Lady’s brother was head coach at OSU from 2008-2014 (6 years) and ended his career there with a 93-104 record.
Robinson was quietly fired after six seasons and received a $4M buyout with three years left on his contract.

Smith has only taken them from blowout losses to 1 touchdown or so losses.
He doesn't seem like any less of a mediocre Pete disciple than Jimmy.
Gary Andersen begged to leave Wisconsin to become OSU’s head coach.
He ended up essentially having a nervous breakdown and quitting during mid-season and crawling back to Utah as an assistant.
Long-time defensive coach at Utah, he was successful in turning around Utah State and winning at Wisconsin.
Coaching at Oregon State was more than he could handle.
Smith is a smart guy and a student of the game. He played for Dennis Ericksen for three years.
IMO, he’s a far better offensive mind than Pete. If anything, Pete held him back (controlled him) while he was OC at UW.
Smith has built his program through a lot of JC transfers and the portal.
Don’t know anything about his assistants yet.
Great college QB considering his physical stature. Too short, etc. Studied game film and was prepared when they were on the field.
If I was from Oregon and had no affiliation with either school, I would be an OSU fan. I like Smith and I AGREE he was hampered by Pete. Wayne Tinkle is a good coach. OSU is a cool college town. Why don't you root for the Beavs? Oh, now I remember.
Update: You were a Beav but aligned yourself with the Ducks because they had better resources.
