Well, former Mayor Sam Adams got his wish and Portland will not be contaminated by any Walmarts. For some reason, crime, homelessness and most importantly shoplifting isn't mentioned in the article.

That Delta Park store was actually one of the nicer looking units. I occasionally hit the Loews right by it.
But that area is not a place I’d go shopping for anything other than 2x4’s or hammers. The dregs of society infest the entire area. It’s a cesspool.
So, fuck bathroom Sam a second time for helping to create that.
And the spot where Walmart wanted to build on Jantzen Beach is a GD eyesore right now and the first thing you see crossing into Oregon. So much better than seeing a Walmart though.

Even with Chinslee involved, compare and contrast the new riverfront development in Vancouver with the Janzen Beach area. Portland has had horrible leadership and is dead city walking. After every NBA All-Star game, they start talking about what it would take to get the all-star game to Portland. I became a regular when he shifted away from politics and got into sleaze. It's not like he was wrong though. It's amazing how pussified we've become in the past 15 years.
