To fly to SF is essentially an 6hr deal.

If you have a noon flight that lands at 2:15 you have to fight traffic and be at the airport 2hrs early and then wait for your luggage and then get a car to the city.

HSR should be about a 7hr trip with no airport absurdity and the ability to actually relax on the train.

So in most cases it would be a better experience at a reduced cost to flying. I’m not trying to replace the automobile. I’m trying to replace the airlines.

HSR maintenance is a giant Grey rhino. Everyone focuses on what it costs to build HSR which is already high. No one focuses on what it costs to run and maintain HSR. It's a giant sinkhole of cash usually funneled through the government since no private company can make the economics work.

Finally making headway on marginally cutting government and yous guysm want a whole extra HSRIC to be put up to launder government money through. Jesus.

Just had a truck pick up some pallets an hour ago headed to Edmonton. Two East Indian guys, one spoke English well and the other was a ghost. I was wondering to myself why they needed two people to haul the freight, but the customer is paying for it so whatever.

They were fine, I’ve just never seen a tru k driving couple where both were licensed. Usually is the old lady on a trip riding shotgun, and that’s rare.
