None. The vibe is one of gloom, continuing destruction and it's not safe. The response of the city bureaucracy is more of the same. Very little to no consequence for drug use, vandalism and theft. Graffiti, boarded up windows and homeless everywhere. Office workers don't want to be there and neither do their over-taxed under defended employers. Portland in the summer was a great destination (as was Seattle) for smaller conventions and continuing education programs for professionals. Great hotels and fabulous restaurants and bars. Now, they are just pretty empty and understaffed.
Third time is a charge. I'm sure the perp was just having a bad day and positive that this was the first run ins with the law and there is no way he should have been in jail. A society that cares more about this type of criminal than the poor victim who probably will never get over this ordeal is broken and sick. We know that the dazzler, Mr. Law and Order, totally opposes catch and release, but its not a voting issue for him.

DISPATCHES FROM THE BLUE ZONES: Fewer than 50 Seattle police officers working first watch for the whole city.
Multiple sources in the Seattle Police Department told The Post Millennial that sufficient staffing levels for a city as populated as Seattle should have no less than 250 officers on each watch.
However, according to those same sources, there were only 47 patrol officers working first watch on Friday, putting the department operating at only 18 percent capacity. … To paint a better picture of the dire situation, as the staffing crisis got worse during the “Defund the Police” movement, the department pulled police personnel from other departments–like detectives and traffic officers–and put them back on patrol.
This means that staffing numbers are exceedingly low even after the department has utilized all available resources.

Portland is short 300 police officers.
Thanks DIMS!
Dumbasses gonna dumbass.
You can cruise at 75mph on any freeway around here and not worry about a cop on bike nailing your ass like back in the day. It's a GD free for all out there. I've seen more road rage the last year than at any point previously.

Everyday I drive into the city I see at least one, and often mulitple people driving extremely wrecklessly. 80 - 90 miles an hour, whipping across lanes, absolutely fucking crazy. I already have a little bit of a lead foot and these maniacs pass me like I'm standing still.

Yeah, went to Eugene and back a couple of weeks ago and didn't see a state trooper on I-5. Fast lane was going 80 mph. On the other hand, West Linn, Lake Oswego and Tualatin are fully staffed and you see them everywhere on traffic patrol.
