Virginia moves to eliminate all advance math classes
Virginia moving to eliminate all accelerated math courses before 11th grade as part of equity-focused planThe Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is moving to eliminate all accelerated math options prior to 11th grade, effectively keeping higher-achieving students from advancing as they usually would in the school system.Hey they "feel" advance math classes are racist, therefore we need to listen to them.

I can’t imagine how unmotivated I would have been by being stunted in growth and development
Basically this is going to push education away from the public to private sector
And you're right, this is just another advantage for those who can pay to play
Just don't call them racist
This isn’t going to impact anybody with $$$ as they’ll move to private sources ...
So effectively what is happening is a blatant shift at separating the have’s and have not’s ... education will completely be dependent upon how much $$$ you have
I want EVERYBODY to have an opportunity to get a good education, to be able to pursue educational pursuits and their dreams ... this is NOT going to result in that
Good thing we put a black kid on the cover so all the black kids can know that there are no expectations for them because the KKK created math.
Believe it or not that excuse won't work with your boss
Keep the advanced kids down. They can go help the disadvantaged kids instead of going on to Calc. 2. It's all Trump and institutional racism's fault. Watch for grades to start going away.
I had the same teacher for 4th and 5th grade ... his solution was to drop an advanced book at my desk and tell me that by and large I was on independent study during the main lesson aspect and he’d come work with me while the rest worked on their problem sets ... I thrived
Midway through 6th grade I switched school districts and went from middle school back to elementary school ... back at elementary school it was pretty obvious that the teacher didn’t know math and I effectively taught the class
That’s a long winded way of saying that you bring up an excellent point in that not only are we dumbing down the kids, but we’re reducing the requirement for excellence from our teachers.
This is such an abject disaster
Back then, or even ten years ago we accepted people are either good at math, average, or suck st it and placed them a accordingly. Now younger Gen X and Millennials who were given trophies for nothing and hate successful types throw in their woke nonsense into verifiable facts. Lifting people who struggle is good. Stagnating the ones with 134 IQs is irresponsible and wrong.
And their union assemblies are their Nuremberg rallies. Period.
