Wish I’d seen this thread earlier since I saw a dead possum while taking a walk to get some perspective.

I don't get it. This looks like a C2 only bigger, heavier, and more complicated. Is this just some sort of patent avoidance scheme?

Who knows. There are any number of different companies which sell rowing machines. For the most part, they all suck.
