Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. Sign in or register to get started.

Welcome to the Hardcore Husky Forums. Folks who are well-known in Cyberland and not that dumb.

Spring cleaning, purge, toxicity and other things I'm fabricating and/or exaggerating...

Seems like we need to clean things up out here occasionally. The boards lately have taken on a toxic tone at times. Profanity, personal attacks, excessive snarky comments, shots at the business and mods, over the top emotional rants etc. Complaints were through the roof.

All of the mods took a heavy-handed approach. It's always a small group that ignites and throws gasoline on things. In addition, we had an increase of activity from the subscribers from the Oregon site. The ability to post has been revoked from a handful. Some for longer than others. Those who weren't subscribers here, pretty much forever.

Moderating is the most difficult thing we do. Some posters feel entitled to post whatever they want because they subscribe. Some feel their length of time here gives them a much longer leash. Neither are true.

The Twitter mob can be disgraceful and some of it finds its way here. Many newspapers and other outlets have shut down their comments sections because they have just become too hard to monitor and moderate. Twitter and Facebook are facing huge problems moderating. It's not easy and it's never black or white. There's always lots of gray. And those who've had their ability to post revoked for a while, please don't proclaim your innocence. We don't take revoking ability to post lightly. And nobody has ever had that happen because the don't agree with us, of for no reason. If it's happened to you, you know why.

We do the best we can. The boards are at their best when no moderation is needed. They're at their worst when moderation is needed. Hopefully, a message has been sent to a few and won't be needed again.

We’ve got thousands of great members who enjoy reading the content from a well-connected staff while pulling up a bar stool among friends and conversing with fellow Dawg fans.

If that’s not what you’re here for, you’re in the wrong place.

Roughly 80 percent of our members never make a post.

So, we’re not going to let the negativity being stirred up by a small vocal minority ruin it for the majority. If you find yourself getting worked up and only looking to flame, step away for a bit. Don't post when you're angry. If you’re the one who can’t stop reacting to a differing opinion, or is making antagonizing posts, stirring it up with others, derailing threads or stifling respectful conversation, you'll be placed on read-only. (Some members across the network have actually asked mods to do this to keep themselves from getting triggered and reacting. Just send us - the staff moderators - a personal message if you'd prefer to be on read-only. More than happy to accommodate.

This place is awesome more often than not. Most of you are awesome as well.

Thanks for making it that way

I took the shot at their sunshine and lollipop business model and KG flipped out. Still stand behind it and if you look at their same 50 guys who post and then multiply that by the 80% that never say anything when you've had a monopoly for the first 20 of 25 years you get where they are at today.

He also later on in the thread talks about if you can't say it to the persons face your attacking don't say it here.

And then in the irony of irony, KG who also doesn't like the backhanded, snarky, passive aggressive comments from his minions, on the BB board vs. Oregon Saturday for the 10th time he has talked about how UW is getting "nothing from their bigs" yet he can't understand how "their coach can't travel with the team" (Kim he has a name it's Cameron Dollar)

The reason he has the guts to say that in the last month or so is b/c he knows at least Dollar won't be back next year.

I wonder if he's asked Cameron Dollar or Hopkins how to get more than nothing from the bigs and why he can't travel with the team?

I'm thinking Jimmy has given Kim access to the football program in some way. This shit is a complete repeat of the Sark years.

    This.

And @godawgst, the funny thing about lil' Kim at the moment is he claims people are allowed to have any opinion they want, he encourages criticism, he simply has a problem with people who repeat things over. Yet he's hijacked literally every thread in the last 2 months (probably hundreds of times) regarding Mike Hopkins and the basketball team, which considering the state of the program, will undoubtedly lead to debating how Hop can fix it and then if he can fix it. And not surprisingly, there are going to be people who take the opinion that he can't. When that occurs, he can't help but rush to poast that hop isn't going anywhere (and he knows from 'sources') so don't even broach the subject, as if he's our retarded bball coach's guardian angel or something. Every fucking time.

But it's not the negative opinions. It's people who who repeat themselves. He's such a fucking joke (WIWPOTD).

I'm looking forward to all the new members yearning to breathe free

Sancho supports freedom. I've been a long time doog and I've survived several purges but despite the doogs I've had some good fun with the sliver of hold outs from the good ole days but Kim ain't fucking arround anymore:

" Any volunteers to go read-only mode?
    ;-) "

"It was so bad that in Tyrone's final year, I actually defended him at times. That was crazy.
    "

" Nope. Never. Been doing this since 1997 and rarely has there been an instance or a comment to us from anybody from UW. Occasionally we get a note if we're factually wrong about something, like a year, a stat, etc. It's just a thing some like to post in an attempt to undermine our credibility. The lack of access stuff is a myth made up by some. "

He deleted a few top @Mods is it Koser to share a screen shot I've Kimmy deletes his own post?

Just a heads up, because some can't help themselves no matter what, crapping on commits or recruits will lead to being part of the purge.

And no, this has nothing to do with any upcoming commits/transfers/walkons, etc. We're just trying to clean things up. After last week's purge, things have been better. We hope to keep things moving in that direction.

Also looks like Spring Ball will start the first week in April. Can't come soon enough.

I think most of us are in Read only mode

I find it hilarious that a 'CEO' has to create edicts on his website to forbid people who hate their $10.95/month so they light it on fire, from making fun of his business and employees. What a shit show.

    I wouldn't know.

Though as long as people are l still ighting their money fire, I feel perfectly fine using their login to enjoy the dumpster fire that is the LPT. Been doing so on diff accounts starting with the football team's credentials in 2004.
