Tear gas is so dangerous the military and police academies expose you to it. In the academy we were placed in a mock up 3 bedroom house full of tear gas. Gas was set off and you had to find your way out. Not many exits and you couldn't see shit. No holding your breath that long!

Tear gas is banned because in combat it is hard to tell what type of gas it is and it could be something worse causing an escalation. Not because it is deadly. It isn't unless you have asthma
