Traffic is way down. Deaths are up. A complete mystery as to why. Don't worry, top minds are on this. Pretty easy to say it's not wearing a mask while driving. Selfish bastards had it coming. If it saves one life.

Transportation officials are trying to figure out why it was such a deadly year on Portland's roads. According to PBOT, 53 people were killed in traffic-related crashes in the city this year - the deadliest since 1997.
Officials say car usage usually drops during a recession, so the high number was a bit of a surprise. They said fatal crashes typically tend to drop with this trend, as well. PBOT says this pandemic year bucked that trend across the country.
In 2019, KATU News reported Portland saw the most traffic fatalities with 48. Despite the pandemic and the push to stay home, 2020 topped that. Even as fewer people were on the roads, fatal crashes and collisions went up, and they say research needs to be done as to why.
