“ For the second straight season, the Oregon football program is home to the Pac-12's Freshman Defensive Player of the Year.
The Pac-12 football coaches voted on the league's awards and Oregon linebacker and former five-star recruit Noah Sewell was named the league's top freshman defensive player of the year within the Pac-12 conference.
Sewell finished this season as one of Oregon's best overall players. As a freshman playing the MIKE inside linebacker spot, Sewell finished the year tied with junior and returning starter Isaac Slade-Matautia as the program's leading tackler with 38 total tackles. Sewell also added one fumble recovery. He finished second on the team in tackles for loss with 5.0 and netted a loss of 15 yards. He also tied second among all players at Oregon with two sacks.
This year for the Ducks at linebacker, Noah Sewell led all Pac-12 freshman in tackles with 38 and also for tackles for loss with 5.0. Sewell is just one of two Oregon freshman since the 2000 season to have double-digit tackles and at least two tackles for loss in a game. Oregon's former linebacker Troy Dye is the only other Duck to do that feat since 2000.
Sewell follows up winning the award after current Oregon sophomore defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux won the award in 2019.”-247
