So this didn't go exactly as we had hoped. 15 commits (we are FULL), only one 5*, and the 32nd ranked class with the most talented instate players in the history of the State of Washington.
Looking back, our biggest/toughest recruiting win was an offensive lineman from O'Dea. Or in Golf terms, you could say we shot 0 birdies this round.
The process was an absolute disaster, really a pathetic recruiting effort from Jimmy Lake. But I will say there are still a lot of players to be hopeful about in this class. This isn't a Sark class where the 3*s are complete trash. Pretty much every player (except 1-2), has some elite traits that give you hope that they could develop into really good players.
If I had reason to think we would start recruiting great again in 2022, then I wouldn't be worried about this class holding us back. Because there are enough players here that could be really good, and we could look back and say were great evaluations. Unfortunately I have no reason to be optimistic about Jimmy Lake's recruiting going forward. If this is it, we are 3 years away from being Cal.
But anyway, here's the class, ranked from best to worst in my personal opinion. But I think there's really just a few tiers here. Sam Huard in his own tier, Prentice-Tunuufi-Moore as legit 4*s. Peihopa-Nunley-Tinae-Heims-Spears as high 3*s, and then everyone else as mid 3*s. Except Caden Jumper who is basically a Jack Westover walk-on that we're giving a scholarship to as a freshman instead.
*Heights/weights probably not very official since nobody has been on campus *

Its just harder to rank someone who doesn't have above average size or athleticism compared to guys with really high ceilings. I think Berry, McCutcheon, Wrysch and Finau are all in a similar tier. But Berry & McCutcheon are High Floor/Low Ceiling and Wrysch & Finau are Low Floor/High Ceiling
I love the Defensive linemen, and I keep forgetting about Moore somehow. He's amazing...Stevens 2.0 without the felony record and meat curtains.
Good chit Rinjin.
1) Gee and others main complaint about how Washington recruits is they refuse to get on the kids level, they have a superiority complex about how it’s a big deal to even be offered by UW and the kid should be grateful they are even getting the opportunity to go to UW - so you can kind of infer from that a lack of really selling or sucking up to some of these recruits that helps get them in the boat. It’s Gee Sr so take it with an grain of salt but there does some to be an element of truth to it.
2). Brandon Huffman confirmed the above and actually said it is getting worse under the Lake regime, not better to my chagrin.
3) For whatever reason Huffman was adamant that Justin Glenn getting hired as the director of recruiting was a horrible hire and he’s awful at his job. Didn’t get any further details as to why that is.
So I can’t say I’m overly positive for 2022.
W/o recruiting we suck again... forever.
Why do I care?
I wish it had something more meaningful in life that mattered.
No, TOF and the kids don’t.
