When I was about 19 years old I drove down to Longview to spend the weekend at my Grandma's. I got us Subway sandwiches and brought Diehard for us to watch for the holidays. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it for the umpteenth time. We had a nice weekend and I drove back home Sunday night.
On Monday afternoon, my dad left me a voice message to call him. When he leaves voice messages but doesn't state the reason, I know it is something very serious. (That's true to this day).
I called dad back on Monday night. He told me that Grandma had been shocked by the language and violence of Die Hard and in the future he wanted me to bring cleaner movies to watch when visiting Grandma. Especially during the Christmas season.
Anyone who says no is a dumbass. "Christmas in Hollis" is playing as the goddamn movie opens. If you say no you hate Run DMC, Santa, the Baby Jesus, America, and are probably a racist.

Never figured out why so many want to have this debate for Die Hard but not for Lethal Weapon. There is more Christmas (War) imagery in Lethal Weapon than Die Hard. And it begins with a nice little Christmas song whilst a nude Amanda Hunsacker takes a swan dive out of the high rise. Right before Riggs buys a Christmas tree (and 100 grand of cocaine) Only person diving out of a high rise in Die Hard is Hans (fully clothed I might add) and there is a significant lack of cocaine.

It's a still an all time classic.
Then it is for me. I watch it within a couple weeks of Christmas every damn year. I just watched it last week - loved it, too.
But look, I'm not heading to the 7-11 over this.
I did like Bonnie Bedelia's perkies though.
But it isn't

It's a Christmas movie because I think of watching it when it gets close to Christmas.
It's associated with the Christmas season, ergo Christmas movie.
Well said Flea.
That story is awesome!
