But for gawd sake keep your hands off restructuring a USPS that has lost $78 billion over the last 12 years, not including bankrupt pensions since 2012 that pile up exponentially every year. Nope, let’s keep that system as is.

USPS has lost $78 billion since 2007 despite receiving billions from taxpayers every year. Democrats still want a bailout.

A new government report shows the severity of the United States Postal Service's poor financial conditions and demonstrates the need for a long-term fix for the agency — not a bailout, as Democrats have suggested.

The report, released Thursday by the U.S. Government Accountability Office, found that the Postal Service's financial problems existed long before the COVID-19 pandemic and highlighted the need for Congress to step in and institute major reforms.

The key data point: Between fiscal years 2007 and 2019, the Postal Service netted losses of approximately $78 billion — and that's despite receiving roughly $18 billion each year from American taxpayers.

It's always struck me as super Ironic that liberal elites, while saying they're all for poor people and minorities, actually engage in rhetoric and political activity that is antithetical to what would actually be of benefit to those groups. They say we should celebrate family diversity and that marriage is not important, regardless of how they live their own lives and what sociological data says is important. They say defund the police, even though poor people and minorities want the police around to keep their neighborhoods safe, safety liberal elites will never have to face losing. They tell everyone you need to go to college, when for many people it's a waste of time and money. Leftist media elites are just about the most out of touch group of people in america and that's an incredibly high bar.

In 2006, a law was passed forcing USPS to fund pensions 75 years into the future. That explains a lot.
