I also really like The Walkmen's record from that year, You & Me.
And this one probably doesn't really fit neatly into the rock category, but Atlas Sound's album that year was super good too.

Got a choice cut from that Walkmen album? I know a couple of their songs, really dig The Rat.]
And yes, the fact that most Kangs are colossal pains in the dick is well-documented.
'On the water', 'In the new year', 'Four provinces' are all really good tracks off You & Me. I think some longtime Walkmen fans didn't like the album as much... maybe because it was a skosh slower than their traditional fare... but I loved it.
Also, if you're into The Walkmen, Grundle... Hamilton Leithauser put out a solo record about a month ago that I think is really fucking good.
