China politically will not allow this to happen. The further in crises China gets, the more desperate they are to take over Hong Kong. Hong Kong showing economic superiority over China decimates the legitimacy of China's communistic rule, and it opens the door for rebellion within China's own border. Hong Kong's success as a semi-free nation in the end will be their downfall.
