Depth at WR?

I know people are expressing concerns about OL and the secondary for 2014 but there doesn't seem to be much depth at the WR position moving forward.

Right now, we have 6 returning players for 2014:
Williams (SR)
Mickens (JR)
Hall (JR)
Kendyl Taylor (RS-So) [was backup RB to Sankey in 2012 after Callier was injured, switched to WR this year and RS'd]
Ross (So)
Stringfellow (So)

There doesn't seem to be any WR recruits on our radar for this class, meaning we could have only 5 on scholarship for 2015. Of course, Perkins and Daniels were playing a hybrid-TE/HB position and both could move back to WR depending on the offensive scheme and TE personnel.

Still, the position is one of our thinnest, especially since we're losing Kevin Smith and ASJ from this year. Does anyone else have concerns about the WR depth?

I am still POd that Smith will not return, since Sark never redshirted him.

We have a few more on the roster, but nobody notable. Parson, Salukhe, and Salyer are also on the roster. I say that just to note that there are more than six coming back actually.

Sark did a suddenly senior to DiAndre Campbell who could have returned, so that is one fewer, but with nine on the roster, and us possibly picking up 1-2 this year and that making it a priority next year, I am not particularly worried.

I would take OL and DL over WR any day at this point.

Right, we do have some walk-ons returning; I should've said we have 6 returning scholarship WRs.

Well understood. I agree we are thin a bit, which is why sending Campbell away was odd. We could use him in the rotation in 2014 and perhaps redshirt a kid we sign in February. But we will lose only Williams after 2014, so hopefully we can build back up if we get 1-2 in this class. I don't expect any super-stars, but I would think we can get 1-2 role players.

Can any of these boys play OT?

If not, WR is the least of next year's worries.

is this a whoosh? we have 6 returning wr's with experience and we are worried about depth? And daniels may or may not stick at TE.

i see a lot of 6/7 WR sets in Petersen's offense. We could be in trouble.

    I suppose you're right.

Daniels/Perkins would move over in the event or an injury or two to the WRs. That'd give us 8 total with 6 who can play (rather than 6 total with 4 who can play).

Careabout, have you watched husky football the last fucking 40 years? Don James and Lambo would have killed for our WR corps back then. Thing is, DJ and lambo won with offensive linemen and TE's. They only needed 4 WR'S on the roster, not 14. And that was when teams had more rides to give (in DJ's era).

Shut the Fuck up dude, we have the best WR group in the conference, maybe the country. Fuck yourself dipshit. whats the matter with you fucking doogs.

Hey, just saying, if we lose Williams like we did this year and Ross (or whoever) gets a concussion on a KOR, we're be down to Stringfellow, Mickens, Taylor and Hall.

Mickens still has the drops, Taylor has never played a snap at WR and Hall was underwhelming filling in after Williams was injured. Daniels hasn't played a snap at WR either and Perkins has done well when opposing teams forget about him and cover ASJ instead. That won't be the case moving forward if he moves over to WR. Williams and String are the only WRs I have confidence in, unless Mickens continues to catch nothing but bubble screens. Anything beyond the LOS and he has butterfingers.

There's no shitting we have a talented WR corp but that was never the point of this topic. It's that we're thin at the position and losing 1-2 WRs to injury will be a strain on our offense. Our RB production is going down and our TE production is going down. We're 1-2 bad breaks from being screwed here, just like OL or our secondary.

I don't deal in hypotheticals. never have, never will.

I'm not worried. Perkins and Daniels are just big WRs.

Puppy steel you're such a fucking freakshow. Shut the fuck up. You try to come off like the old pro here but everyone just gets mildly annoyed or laughs at you. Pretty sure it's time for you to beg your way back onto dm.c for the dozenth time.
