Question for my APAC expurts
Why are face masks so ubiquitous in Asian cultures? I mean they are common place year round and not just in cold and flu season. Is is a reaction to living in high density thing- e.g., Tokyo, Seoul, Peking, Shanghai, etc? In Seattle this week, I've hardly seen a Caucasian wearing a face masks. Many folks of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc, ancestry are.

I wore a mask one summer when I was removing asbestos. Never before and never since. I remember people wearing them in 1981 after mt St. Helens erupted
Good for the wheat crop in the 509 ultimately. Bumper yields after that.

My frat house was shut down due to asbestos a couple years after I moved out. You don't see me complaining.
