I'll leave the player eval up to the professionals, but Battle was trash from outside. He shoots with confidence so I assume he is used to hitting shots in practice, but the numbers don't lie.
He went 21/77. He's not a good 3pt shooter until he is.
Fair enough. Numbers are terrible. In the little I watched, he looked pretty good, but he obviously had some very shitty games in others.
I feel bad for him because he bought into what Hop was selling. It almost certainly hurt his draft stock too. I’m sure NBA teams still know all about him, but he’s basically forgotten by the media because he plays for such a shitty team.
He could be averaging 15 and 8-10 for a legitimate contender and be getting a lot more attention. I think he will be a solid NBA player. He has a decent shot that should continue to get better, a high motor, and should be a good undersized center. I would easily take him over McDaniels.
Hopkins stated during the preseason that Stewart's impact on the program would be felt for the next 20 years. He shouldn't have put that upon a freshman and the team as a whole.
Or he should have developed a plan to exploit the inevitable double/triple teams Stewart has seen.
You mean like shooters that just have to stand there and take open looks?
There wasn’t a single knock down shooter other than Quade on the team. Even with him, I wouldn’t consider him a sniper. Battle may be one day. The rest are average to shitty shooters.
It’s so fucking important to have shooters. You really can’t win without them. Horrible roster construction. You should be able to hide 1-2 guys who can shoot and maybe lack athleticism. Half of defense is having awareness and just playing hard.
I read that our "3 point specialist", Battle, shot fucking 27% from 3 on the year. That is pathetic.
Kind of reminds me of a really poor mans CJ Wilcox. Streaky but the streaks are much shorter.
He’s got a good stroke, but his shot selection... needs some work, to put it politely.

He's going to be good.
