Its not the assistant, its the head coach. For that brief moment when we didn't hate Petermen there was a lot of OC hate out here. Still seeing a lot of it because you don't want to bail on Jimmy a couple weeks in.

Donovan is irrelevant. Jimmy hired him. If the offense sucks that's on Jimmy. If we don't get a recruit that's on Jimmy

In some occasions where you think you have the right head coach and a key assistant can make the difference then fine. I'll let you know when that is the case. It isn't the case now.

Orgeron is an ace recruiter who loaded LSU with talent. They took a transfer QB and brought in someone to fix the offense. Big winning followed.

But that was last year. Now he brings in Pellini to DC and lost the whiz kid on offense and the QB. Ed has to earn that paycheck all over again

As it should be

These two sentences are not coherent. Donovan is relevant precisely BECAUSE Jimmy hired him. Jimmy could have gone for an easy lay up hire, but he opted for the I'm-a-genius-with-special-insights hire.

There are good reasons to believe that Jimmy might be a football genius (Petersen and Kwiatkowski seem to think he is), but oftentimes the greatest act of genius is knowing your limitations, which you'd think might be the more prudent course for Jimmy as a first time head coach.

The silver lining to Donovan is his hiring let us know early on that if Jimmy isn't a true mastermind with 4D chess skills he's a hubristic charlatan who should be afforded an unusually short leash; there is no middle ground.

    Not incoherent

You don't shit about Donovan and neither do I

We know Jimmy hired him. Good or bad that's all that matters and that's all we know

A lot of great James assistants sucked under other coaches

    It's the head coach
