It’s sad we have been so shitty at evaluating and developing the right QB’s. We will be 8-4 without Costello. With Costello, I’ll lean towards 10-2. I don’t see is having an actually good offense no matter what, but we need some competence there.
I am hopeful that Jimmy will run the ball more and try and be more aggressive up front than Pete was. That’s not really the trend in CFB, but that seems like the best route for our personnel.

That young group of WRs has to be enticing for Costello
Is he going to have the athletes catching the ball here that he had on the farm last year? I just wonder how much his ability and numbers were amplified by some huge sure handed targets. As it stands we have Cotton and Puka for real passing threats with Bynum probably being more of a possession guy that looked good with Easons darts.
Not that he isn't better than the QBs on roster but he had a pretty nice situation down there last year...and lost his job this year.

All we need in 2020 is a solid running game, stout defense, and a QB who completes 63% of his passes with minimal turnovers.
QB is position group where great evaluations means QB entering the transfer portal. The days of having stacked QB rooms where the players are willing to wait and compete for a single season are over. Good QB evaluation is finding that one guy that is good enough to make the others transfer. Now if you have a QB room with players no one wants ...that's bad evaluation.

Swap Costello for Eason, and these are off season Natty poasts from the past 2 years.
Costello has a much better body of work
In the Pac 12
This is true.
Also true, Jake Browning is the only QB to have won two conference titles as a starter since Mariotta I think.
You've obviously been hurt badly and don't want to love again only to be crushed yet again. DAWG sense!
You do what you wanna do I'll leave it all up to you In time, I'll find love again
Hot love growin' cold Just when you thought you'd found a heart of gold Looks like, I've been fooled again
Oh but it's all right with me now I'll get back up somehow And with a little luck I'm bound to win
And I'll fall in love, I'll fall in love again
And you're always sittin' ring side Just a rollin' with the changing tide The tide has washed you from my mind
And I guess you think you've got it made Oh but then you never were afraid Of anything that you've left behind
Oh but it's all right with me now I'll get back up somehow And with a little luck yes I'm bound to win 'Cause I'll fall in love, yes I'll fall in love again

It is what it is. Big dick programs have big name turnovers nowadays.
It's nice to have stability that Peterman wants ... but we see what happened when he tried to please that philosophy when he strung haenous anus around and gave up precious reps to him instead of seasoning Eason.
Sirmon needs to separate himself (hoping he's gotten a fair shake) otherwise portal ... because ishit is coming and the next and next ...
I'm more willing to give him a pass for botching the OC hire
You need what Costello has upstairs to beat Michigan. He's a tough competitor, plenty of big game experience.
True. Seen him play great when Stanford was behind. He makes big throws. My only complaint would be that most of his big throws were jump balls to Arcegia-Whiteside or their always huge TE’s.

Pete fucked us by not putting down Oregon when they were reeling and now pop offing and winning off season natties.
