The White Cascade: The Great Northern Railway Disaster and America's Deadliest Avalanche

    https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/88365.The_White_Cascade

Plowed (lulz) through this unironically during the Great Heat Wave. It has same the common foibles of the genre, presuming a lot of the mindset of people long since dead. However, the subject is complete wheelhouse for me. Skrong recommend.
Just bought and downloaded. Thank you sir

Just finished Bomber Mafia. Highly recommend.

Precision bombing was a joke. The Brits were right. Cool stories on the Napalm, Norden Bombsite and discovery of the Jet Stream.

Recently finished Peter Zeihan's The End of the World is Just the Beginning

Definitely recommend. I think he presses at times with some of his predictions, but even if he's only half right, the next 10- 20 are going to be interesting either way.

@UW_Doog_Bot would like for the Long China is bull shit hot takes.

Thanks for the recommend. Out of curiosity, did he discuss Bitcoin? He is known for being anti-Bitcoin I believe.

High recommend all 3 of Zeihan’s books, and his daily YouTube spots. I don’t know how right or wrong he is, but I greatly appreciate the way he analyses things. He’s got a well-thought reason for all his positions and predictions.

Zeihan mocks Bitcoin pretty hard and thinks there not much use case for it. I don't think he goes into too much with the book if I recall but I will send you a Podcast excerpt if I can find.

I've only read the last one but watch almost all of his U Toob stuff.

Again, I think he stretches a bit on time- e.g., how much the US Navy will pull back on ensuring freedom of the seas as part of what he calls "The Order". But his takes on China's vulnerabilities- i.e., demographic and basically being totally dependent on the post way global system the US created - are spot the fuck on.

He spends a few minutes on crypto at the end of Rogan pod. Part of his critique is similar to one I’ve seen elsewhere: Crypto is an electricity arbitrage and that’s its only “value.” Further, the built in scarcity of Bitcoin limits its utility as an exchange.
