This should really give the economy a shot in the arm. Imagine all the new businesses lining up to move to the People’s Republic of Portland!!

Portland Passes “Green New Deal” Carbon Tax, First Of Its Kind in the Nation

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/01/portland-passes-green-new-deal-carbon-tax-first-of-its-kind/

“ The Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund, or PCEF, will raise as much as $60 million a year from a new tax on big retailers. The money is supposed to supply clean, efficient energy and jobs to people the city has long slighted.

At its core, the concept transfers wealth from big corporations such as Walmart to low-income Portlanders of color. It’s a local version of the Green New Deal proposed in 2019 by U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). It’s also part of a larger political effort to reshape who calls the shots—and who benefits—in America’s whitest big city.

Never has City Hall had so much money to spend with so few strings attached. The guidelines for spending the tax are squishy, as are the yardsticks for measuring the effectiveness of those expenditures.”

Retail needs to run from that hellish place. This is what socialists do. They steal the money from those who earn it and then the corruption begins and the elites get rich.

Everything the left touches turns to shit. This will be no different.

Check back in 5 years and see if the leadership in Portland stands up and says due to their actions in 2020 climate change has been eliminated and we will now maintain the optimal global climate for eternity. Of course they won't, because this won't move the needle and in 5 years they will say they need more money to address "climate change".

What is most amazing to me is the open checkbook with zero rules. This is a slushfund for rats. There is nothing that says they have to spend it on anything specifically. This is obviously the way rats want it. There will be zero accountability and the rats can spend it on all of the rat lead initiatives that take more rights and money away from people and makes the rats more powerful in their little white city of Portland.

People there have to be out of their minds to let a government have a slush fund like this. It is bordering on criminal.

Whether programs and policies are effective and work is never a concern for a leftist. It's all about punishing people they don't like and making themselves feel better about themselves. This policy checks both of these boxes.

These leaves zero doubt the "climate change" legislation and regulation has nothing to do with the climate. It's about control, power, taxation and advancing the progressive agenda.

I don't know about in Portland, but Walmart here is where the poor shop. You can get great bargains on clothing, toiletries and food. So the rat wisdom here is actually going to punish those they say they want to help. Walmart is just going to pass the cost increase along.

Portland is so fucked up. Is there anyone there with half a fucking brain?

The poor also work there. Walmart offends the sensibilities of the urban middle class who feel morally superior by vilifying Walmart as they head to Costco, Whole Foods and Trader Joe's.

In their smug moral indignation they want to punish Walmart and drive them out. Of course it's they poor who they claim to care about who bears the brunt of their ignorance , narcissism and arrogance.

RAT leadership hate the poor. They believe they are elite because it helps them avoid the reality that the vast majority of these assholes can't compete on a level playing field.
