Historical Perspective

FACTS:
1) Don James had 1 great 2 year run ( 90-91 ) that would meet the standards you miserable fuckheads have today. You could argue 1980-1984 was a good run, and it was, but would not have been up to your standards.
2) It's a lot harder today, I would argue, then back then to sustain a run. That's reserved for just the top tier - Bama, Clemson, tOSU. Every other historical program has had trouble winning at the clip we are striving for.
3) We will never be Bama. Ever. Get over it. We won't be Clemson either. Not going to happen.
4) It is hard to win conference championships and even more difficult now that there is a real gayme.

With all that said, we should have 1 maybe 2 losses if we had a coach that could fucking pull his head out of his ass, make adjustments, and not play fucking cute and conservative football. He is out of touch with the swagger that's needed to win and he is out of touch with the fact his fucking offense sucks. I'm just as disappointed as you fucks but I was sitting in the stadium with my brother-in-law, @Rapeculturedawg STONE COLD SOBER FOR SOME REASON, and I glanced at the west end and remarked on how infrequently we've won conference titles. It is hard, apparently to do on a regular basis.

We are all going to have to come to terms with this eventually.

Winning rose bowls/NY6 games and popping off >>>>> anything you said

I wanted don james fired in 1988. At they time I didn’t realize he gave up boating work and fancy coffee for sleeping in his office and drinking instant Folgers freeze dried

So in 18 years, Don James appeared in 6 rose bowls and 1 "NY6 bowl" - the 1984 orange. He was 5-2 in those games. He was in a bowl in all but 4 of his career - 1975, 1976, 1978, and 1988.

So far, Peterman has gone bowling each year and holds a 1-4 record. Last 3 have been NY6.

    2014 Washington 8–6 4–5 3rd (North) L Cactus
    2015 Washington 7–6 4–5 4th (North) W Heart of Dallas
    2016 Washington 12–2 8–1 1st (North) L Peach† 4 4
    2017 Washington 10–3 7–2 T–1st (North) L Fiesta† 15 16
    2018 Washington 10–4 7–2 T–1st (North) L Rose† 13 13
    2019 Washington 5–4 2–4
    Washington: 52–25 32–19

Sample size is small for Peterman but a set back year, no doubt, this year...to say the least.

Is it okay to expect or want Pete to be better than Don James?

Can Pete set a new standard? Is that okay with you?

    No.

We can’t reasonably expect to ever set a new standard.

    Get some PERSPECTIVE.

Yeah it's pretty outrageous for a fanbase with the best NW college that still isn't super restricting on athlete admissions to expect to dominate a league that includes fucking Oregon, fucking UtahMW, and a blue blood that wants to hire Matt Dameon to be the AD and head coach of the football team.

Absolutely, that would be ok with me. I know this is cliche, but that's a hard thing to do.

Has all that changed? Is it easier now than before? I don't think it is. My point is that it's historically hard to meet the expectations of this group here when you look at history.

Except once again Oregon is undefeated in conference play. It’s a weak pac 12. Yet we have 4 losses.

So in conference James' worst years were:
    3-5
    3-4
    4-3-1

Petersen over 6 years already has:
    4-5
    4-5
    2-4

    He needs to do better.
