Commerce Chief Threatened Firings at NOAA After Trump’s Hurricane Tweets, Sources Say

insinceredawginsinceredawg Member Posts: 5,117
Does this surprise anyone? President Dumbfuck got so upset over being corrected on the Alabama/Dorian bullshit that he threatened NOAA officials to get fired over it.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/09/climate/hurrican-dorian-trump-tweet.html?smtyp=cur&smid=tw-nytclimate

The Secretary of Commerce threatened to fire top employees at NOAA on Friday after the agency’s Birmingham office contradicted President Trump’s claim that Hurricane Dorian might hit Alabama, according to three people familiar with the discussion.

That threat led to an unusual, unsigned statement later that Friday by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration disavowing the office’s own position that Alabama was not at risk. The reversal caused widespread anger within the agency and drew criticism from the scientific community that NOAA, a division of the Commerce Department, had been bent to political purposes.

It's almost as if the forecast hadn't changed from August 28th when that clip is from to September 1st when Trump mistakenly said Alabama would most likely be hit much harder then expected...

Hey dumbshit...as I poasted last week that was the forecast August 31 5pm.

    Keep lying...

A guy who has thin skin because everyone in the media is stupidly attacking him days later for repeating what the actual NOAA forecast was less than 12 hours previously (and what the media themselves were saying when they weren't incorrectly labeling Alabama as Mississippi...) .

    You had a point?

HondoFS has some serious competition around here...

Why do you lie on an anonymous message board? bizarre...

By Friday it had already shifted and was projecting to run up the Florida East Coast. Sunday Sept 1 Trump tweets including Alabama as one of the states likely to be hit much harder then expected. At 8 AM EST on Sunday morning BEFORE his tweet this was the forecast...

GDS stand for God Damn Stupid?

So 12 hours before Trump's tweet. The far right corner of bama had a 5% chance of 39 mph winds. Sounds like they'll take the brunt of it.

And the second table you just uploaded was from two days prior. Be honest man.

HondoFS...guessing you've never been through either a TS or a Hurricane.

I intentionally poasted those because they are dated (there are a bunch out there that aren't)...the forecast up until the morning of Sept 1 was for it to hit central Florida and go who-knows-where from there. Its fine to say his information was half a day old because it was...to say nobody thought it could impact other states and blah blah blah is a pure case of TDS.

Or just being really fucking stupid.

    Or both...you know...like you...

again...why lie to cover for Trump? Really bizarre. Everyone makes mistakes...but seemingly Trump is the only one who is incapable of admitting it.

Here is the forecast from Saturday morning. It wasn't projected to hit central Florida until the morning of Sept 1. Just stop man.

No but we regularly see 40-50 mph winds and heavy rain in Spokane. We live.

    Keep ignoring the top note:

Note: The cone contains the probably path of the storm center but does not show the size of the storm. Hazardous conditions can occur outside of the cone.

At its peak the storm was the size of Georgia.

And I love the backtracking...'Trump lied...it never was going to impact Alabama' or wherever to now it 'he was quoting a forecast 24 hours old instead of 12 hours old'

    God Damn Stupid...

He did lie. This is what he said on Sunday at 12:30

"And, I will say, the states -- and it may get a little piece of a great place: It's called Alabama. And Alabama could even be in for at least some very strong winds and something more than that, it could be. This just came up, unfortunately. It's the size of -- the storm that we're talking about. So, for Alabama, just please be careful also," he says.

of course he was just trying to cover up for his earlier fuck up as it's seemingly easier for him to lie to cover up for a fuck up rather then just admit he was using forecasts that were 3-4 days old.

This is your “lie”? A hurricane the size of Georgia was suppose to hit Florida/Georgia and you think it is a “lie” to say “Alabama could even be in for at least some very strong winds and something more than that, it could be.” Have you ever been in the storm bands of a hurricane?

Holy shite...you need to change your name to RGDS.

Again here you are just lying your ass off...true believer in the Trumptarded religion of stupidity. When Trump claimed he had new information that Alabama was going to get hit the storm was projected to stay well off the coast of Florida/Georgia.

This is all so completely fucktarded but it shows Trump’s personality in a nutshell. He was uninformed and not up to date on the details of a storm and made a mistake when discussing it. Then instead of admitting he made a mistake and just moving on he doubled down by lying his ass off and threatens to fire the people who pointed out he was wrong.

That said he knows his base well because he knows mouth breathers like yourself will lie to the end of time to run cover for him no matter how fucktarded the lie.
