Quick Thoughts Cal Bears Edition

The offense is awful. They play up tempo but there's no urgency. Watch other teams play and the running back gets the ball and he gashes for yards...our guys, not so much. Our guys don't exhibit any of the fury required by such an emotional game. The decades-long obsession with poorly executed (both by the receiver and the blockers) wide screen plays is infuriating. We have lost a collective billion yards on those screen passes over the last years. They do nothing but put us in 3rd and 12-16.

The wide receivers getting first reps is absolutely painful to watch. Why does every other team in the country have a combination ranging from seniors down to true freshmen while we've been punished by having to watch Bacellia and Fuller for the last 4 years? Those guys are not big enough, not strong enough, not fast enough, etc. They simply aren't good enough. The fucking drops...my god.

Man...what a joy it must be to watch Evan Weaver on your team. The kid brings it every play. He was fucking everywhere. Our entire defense is lacking a war daddy like him who sets the tone emotionally and physically and knows what the fuck he's doing out there. He singlehandledly embarassed us.

Our defense just doesn't look very on point this year. Seems like there's talent, but Tryon over committing to the scrum every play left acres of outside room for Garbers and whichever running back had the ball, our linebackers made a few early plays but as the game wore on they became invisible. Cam Williams is physically not ready. In 2 weeks he has shown that there's a reason you should redshirt certain types of players.

we didn't create a single turnover....it's fucking sad that there isn't even a threat that we'll get a turnover during the entire game.

The kicking game is obviously improved. Unfortunately at the cost of everything else. Fuller gets a gold star for not fair catching everything. He's still not capable of turning the field, though.

It's pretty much a ruined season already. Damn.

Shout out to the 2 happiest guys on the "W" (for West Coast) - Jake Haener and Gee Scott Senior! Both staying up late, poppin' champagne and firing up some new Twitter burner accounts.

Why the fuck did Tryon continue to get snaps after making the same mistake 4 or 5 times?
Why the fuck didn't Fuller get sat for a couple of series after his latest drop?

No accountability to do your job.

Because their options at this point are Bowman (jag) Ngata (too small to hold edge on running plays), and Latu who like most all young/inexperienced players does the same thing as Tryon is doing and crashing down every play.

    After that it's ??????

We have the same issues at ILB. The two starters clearly aren't good enough, and the two backups aren't ready yet.

Isn't that a coaching issue then? Why is the message you don't crash down every play not getting through?

Missing on edge players for years has caused the problem of holding contain on the edge. Latu is a beautiful human, but the whiffs have hurt.

Because they are young/inexperienced and since the 6th grade all they had to do was see ball/get ball and could do that being the biggest/fastest/strongest guy on team.

Tryon just played in his essentially 5th/6th game as a starter.
