Did I bamboozle you by putting the numbers beside the team to make it clear?RatherBeBrewing said:
I’m not quite sure what you’re trying to demonstrate here. Despite Covid opt outs, condensed conference only scheduling, contact tracing, etc the composite one again showed the correlation.Canadawg said:Team talent composite and they're record last year.
Texas 5th 7-3
LSU 6th 5-5
Florida 7th 8-4
USC 10th 5-1
Oregon 12th 4-3
Penn St 13th 4-5
Auburn 14th 6-5
Tennessee 15th 3-7
Florida St 16th 3-6
Michigan 17th 2-4
---
UW 19th 3-1
Imagine being a fan of Texas or Tennessee
Unless the intention is to mislead and bamboozle why does the list start at 5 but skip 8 and 9? Is it because 2, 3, 4, and 8 made the playoffs while 1 and 9 won the Peach and Cotton Bowls? I think 7th Florida can be excused for making the Cotton Bowl and their losses to 2, 6, 9, and 11.
In summary: With the exception of #5 Texas and #6 LSU all the teams 1-12 either went to the playoff, NY6 Bowl, or the conference championship game. All the five big conference champions came from the top-12.
#5 Texas fired their coach for underachieving.
#6 LSU had opt outs from their top players, satiated after winning the national championship the year prior.
#14 and #15 also fired their coaches.
Coaches of teams in the top-15 had this option:
* Get to playoffs, conference championship game, or an NY6 bowl. Ten achieved this.
* Be the defending national champion. One achieved this.
* Get fired. Three achieved this.
* Be James Franklin. One achieved this.
How about a non Covid season, like 2019? Here are the final AP poll rankings and their team talent rank.
1. LSU: 5
2. Clemson: 9
3. Ohio State: 2
4. Georgia: 3
5. Oregon: 17
6. Florida: 15
7. Oklahoma: 9
8. Alabama: 1
9. Penn State: 11
10. Minnesota: 42
Only two out of the top ten weren’t top-15 in talent. One was 17th and had a QB who would break the rookie passing records. The other was an impressive 42nd, but they also had one win against a conference opponent with a winning record. PJ Fleck has his Row the Boat schtick, and he’s shown he’s capable of getting into the top ten with Jimmy Lake type recruits. He’d be a good fit.
I was just pointing out elite recruiting is far from a guarantee for wins. Most of the top 25 at the end of the year were teams not anywhere near the top in team (high-school) talent. I know that (HS) talent matters but these facts are irrefutable.
I would agree that to be the in the top 10 you need to be in the top 25 in talent though. Something like that. -
Soon to select a new school with a nod to Washington.

Just decomitted from Oregon. Says his recruitment is open to all schools. I know we are full but we need to get back in good terms with this guy.

Id rather tuck my dick and balls between my legs and skoot forward with my hands on a broken glass freeway then sign a kid who went on 24/7 and said “I can do better than UW”.KrunkJuice said:Just decomitted from Oregon. I'd love to go scorched earth but if the coaches think he can play then we need to chalk this up to kids day stupid things. Such is the degrading nature of recruiting.theLSkid said:

If he is good I want him. If he sucks I don’t. Reuben foster went to bama and played with an auburn logo tattoo.Mad_Son said:

Some of you can’t handle the ups and downs.
