They did so despite ranking 118th in completion rate allowed, 107th in sack rate, 97th in stuff rate (run stops at or behind the line), and 67th in overall havoc rate. They let you execute your play, tackled you immediately, and then, once you eventually fell behind schedule, let their talented DBs feast.

This approach leads to heavy drinking by fans and less opportunities on offense but considering what we had less Browning on the field was better. Pete coached to his talent

It did not work against Penn State who never fell behind and converted 78 of 79 third downs. Allegedly.

I like a more aggressive defense but like Pete I don't like giving up big plays
