The argument is that even if there wasn't a crime, obstruction is obstruction. Based on the law, that is correct. However, there is not a single federal prosecutor that would ever charge a sitting president for obstruction of where there is no crime. The democrats in congress will also not push for impeachment due to obstruction. It will be political suicide to continue to double down on this. The louder the democrats are, the bigger the hole they dig themselves in. If they were smart, they'd just be quiet and let Trump dig himself in, but they aren't smart, so they won't.
