Surprised no thread on this ... great to see him make it in this year’s HOF class ... criminally underrated as a player

Sikma is way before my time. Can someone explain how he's a HOF player? His stats look pretty solid, but nothing about him screams generational player.

You don't need to be a generational player to make the HOF

Two trips to the Finals in Seattle then made the Bucks a contender with Marques Johnson and the gang

Back when Center mattered in basketball

Was he at least the best player on those teams? Maybe I'm an asshole when it comes to HOF's, but they don't seem to be exclusive enough.

You don't have to be the best player on a team to be HOF worthy.

The Sonics didn't have a best player. It was that miid 70's era of the TEAM. The Warriors, Blazers, Bullets, and Sonics won titles with team play. Rick Barry, Bill Walton, and Elvin Hayes were super stars. The Sonics didn't really have one. Sikma was considered the piece that made them champs but they had two Johnsons, The Wiz, and great chemistry

Speaking of Elvin Hayes my dad told me a story about him.

The team was touring and playing Chinese teams in the 70s. He refused to get off the team bus to see the Great Wall of China. Instead he just sat in the team bus for 3 hours.

Yes, but it's one thing to play second fiddle to the GOAT, another to Marques Johnson.

Marques Johnson wasn’t with the Bucks when Sikma got there
