When I went to UW law school, tuition was $3800 for the year. I used to get this goofy scholarship from a Grays Harbor family trust (some timber baron who died without kids funded the trust, which I think is gone now), for which I needed like 5 minutes to fill out the application. Requirements were as follows: (1) you're breathing, (2) you graduated from a HS in Grays Harbor, (3) you are pursuing education (any kind, trade, voc. tech, college, we DGAF) post high school, and (4) you're still breathing. A check in some weird amount would show up in the mail later on made out to you. You could go piss it away on anything and they wouldn't know. Paid for 3 years of LS and books with that money and had cash left over every year. I used it for undergrad as well.
Now I have two kids in private college, so pay back has been a bitch.
