Despite the fact that the kids are white its a slippery slope to demonize groups based on apparel or thought. We have proven how deadly that is in our long history. Getting even isn't the answer despite the allure of it.

That is interesting. Libel gets thrown around a lot (thanks Trump), mostly in situations that fail the first test: the subject is a public figure. These kids clearly were not public figures. Second condition is whether the story tended to bring "injury" upon them. Pretty easy to make that argument. The third is always tricky to prove, whether the story was intentional false. WaPo & NYT should have been careful enough to parse words in their coverage, but also should have been careful enough to actually investigate the story before running.GrundleStiltzkin said:
